Probably the most common thing done with cauliflower to cook it is simply boiling the vegetable, which is a relatively simple process. Remove all the leaves and throw them away, then cut the stalk close the the flower - the big main bit that looks like a vegetable brain. Next you need to get a pan or bowl and fill it up with water and soak the cauliflower for half an hour. If you don't want the cauliflower to fall apart when you cook it you can tie some netting around it or put it in some cheese-cloth, or any cloth that wont leak dyes when it's boiled, then place the cauliflower into a pan of boiling, salted water and cook till the cauliflower is soft and tender. Boiling times will vary depending on how big your cauliflower is, or whether or not you've chopped it up into small pieces, but you basically just stab it with a fork and if the fork goes in and out easily, so the cauliflower virtually slips off the fork, your cauliflower is ready to eat.
Some people like to add butter or margarine to the cauliflower when it's on the plate.
